A workshop built on patience
Pendulux has been at the same address in Bukit Bintang since the workshop opened. The work takes as long as it needs to take. That has always been the arrangement.
← Back to HomeWhere Pendulux began
The workshop was established on Jalan Bukit Bintang after its founder, Hafiz Rashid, spent several years training under watchmakers in Switzerland before returning to Kuala Lumpur. He wanted a place that would take on the watches other repair counters turned away — not necessarily because they were prestigious, but because they had meaning to someone and needed proper attention.
The name Pendulux comes from pendulum and lux — the swing of time and the light by which close work is done. Both felt like honest descriptions of what happens at the bench every day.
Over the years, Pendulux has developed a particular focus on inherited pieces — watches that have passed from one generation to the next and need careful restoration rather than a quick service. This work takes longer and demands more conversation, but it is the work the team finds most worthwhile.
What we are here to do
Pendulux exists to give watches the kind of attention that is becoming harder to find — slow, considered, and transparent. We write down what we intend to do before we do it. We tell you what we find, not what sounds reassuring. And we do not order parts or proceed with work until you have agreed to the scope in writing.
The workshop is not large. We take on a limited number of pieces at any one time because quality does not scale well when you are working under a loupe. Regulars appreciate this and return precisely because the standard does not slip.
Written scope and cost range agreed before work begins
Original parts preserved at owner's request
Honest assessment of what can and cannot be done
Staged updates on longer restoration projects

Standards at the bench
Written job scope
Before any work is begun, a written description of the task, parts, and indicative cost is prepared and shared with the owner. Nothing proceeds without agreement.
Calibrated pressure testing
Water resistance checks are performed on calibrated equipment, with results recorded on a printed sheet that is handed to the client regardless of the outcome.
Parts sourcing transparency
When a component needs replacing, we describe the options — original, NOS, or aftermarket — and wait for the owner's decision before placing any order.
Secure piece handling
Every watch in the workshop is logged on intake and stored in a numbered, labelled drawer. Pieces are never left unattended on the open bench outside working hours.
Loupe and magnification checks
Dial surfaces, movement parts, and seal conditions are inspected under magnification before and after work to confirm the standard of the finished result.
Staged updates on long work
For restoration projects spanning several weeks, brief written updates are sent at agreed milestones so the owner always knows where the work stands.
Watch repair in Kuala Lumpur
Watch repair in Kuala Lumpur covers a broad range of needs. Some owners come in after a crystal has cracked against a door frame. Others bring pieces that have sat in a drawer for a decade, still ticking faintly, needing a proper look to understand what they require. A smaller number arrive with watches that have been in the family for two or three generations and need a more considered approach — not just servicing, but careful thought about what to keep, what to replace, and what to leave as it is.
At Pendulux, the work is done at a pace that suits the piece rather than a turnaround target. Crystal replacements and pressure checks move through the workshop within a few working days for most cases. Full restorations are scheduled with the owner from the start, with realistic timeframes discussed openly rather than optimistic estimates that shift later.
The workshop is well placed for those who live or work in the Bukit Bintang area, but pieces also arrive by appointment from other parts of Kuala Lumpur and occasionally from elsewhere in Malaysia. If you are unsure whether your watch is something we can help with, a short message or phone call is the simplest way to find out. We read every enquiry and respond with a straightforward answer.
Something on your workbench needs looking at?
We are glad to hear about it. A brief message is enough to start — describe the piece and what you have noticed, and we will take it from there.
